September Color Story + Mantra

September is probably my favorite month of the year besides the early spring month’s. The weather starts to turn a little crisper, the air smells a little cleaner, and the colors become more vibrant. I love watching the light shift too. I’ve spent years studying the light as a photographer and what I love most about this time of year is the way the light shines through the trees in the early morning, casting rays of right onto the earth.

I’ve been getting back to walking outside now that the humidity is subsiding here in Virginia. My sister and I hiked 8 miles last weekend and I’ve been trying to take advantage in the evenings to get a walk in before the time change. I’ve been noticing just the first bits of color changing in the leaves and have been collecting a few specimens for some new work.

I came up with 2 color palettes for this month and am sharing coordinating artwork:

Over the summer, I enjoyed catching up on podcasts I had been missing since COVID but lately, I’ve been enjoying just walking, listening to the squirrels leap from tree to tree overhead, or the rustling of the leaves. It allows me to clear my head. It’s also been a source of inspiration and higher wisdom that drops in during this time. I like working with Mantras from time to time and the one that dropped in this past week was to “Find Your Own Rhythm”. It means finding your own path, doing your own thing, not worrying about what other people are doing, or what you think you ‘should’ be doing. no no. This is all about finding your own way. Doing your own thing.

I’ve created a few 8x10 PDFs to go along with this Mantra and you can find them in the My Mantra Digital Download shop here
