DIY Mushroom ‘Coffee’

For the past year, I’ve been getting an intuitive whisper to give up my second cup of coffee each day. I was getting the feeling to swap it out for a cup of tea. I do love tea but at times, it doesn’t feel like enough. I actually started swaping out tea for infused water instead but that’s a post for another time. Back to the coffee- I tried some expensive mushroom coffee and did like a few of the flavors but it was just so expensive, I couldn’t bring myself to continue buying it.

One day while I was grocery shopping, this mushroom blend popped up on my radar and I decided right there on the spot to create my own mushroom ‘coffee’.

The blend could not be simplier:

1 part mushroom powder

1 part dark chocolate cocoa powder

1/2 part ground cinnamon

I’ve been making oatmilk latees with my mushroom ‘coffee’ blend. I fill my mug halfway with oat milk, heat for 2min in the microwave. Add a heaping tsp of my powder, then blend with a milk frother while I add local honey OR my elderberry syrup for a sweetner.
