The Wild Ink Collection
2020 wasn't the year I thought it was going to be...
I know I'm not alone when I say that. I had dreams of vacations, mini trips away, lots of BBQ with friends + family during the summers, workshops I wanted to take, movies I wanted to take my son to, etc. I don't have to tell you what happened almost a year ago. The world came to a creaching hault.
Plans changed, attitudes, routines, 'normal' changed. But it took time. It wasn't easy or pretty, especially in those beginning months- the months AFTER the initial first weeks of quarintine. Initially, I thought we'd only be home for 2 weeks so I planned lots of fun activities to do with my son to pass the time. But those 2 weeks turned into 2 more, then 2 more, then realization hit and we were home. For how long we weren't sure. My anxiety started rearing it's ugly head and to try to get in front of it, I did the only thing I knew how to do. To create. To work with what I had around me and to try to make beauty from it.
I started creating + working with ink I made from foraged plants I found around my home, just one short (or long) year ago. What started as a way to connect with nature + to calm my anxiety about factors that were out of my control turned into a meditative creative practice.
It wasn't until just recently I even started sharing these beautiful little meditation paintings. They felt too personal, they came from a vulnerable place that until recently, I WASN'T ready to share. But as I created + shared my ink making practice through the Wild Ink Challenge, I knew this collection needed to find forever homes and get out of the desk drawer.
I am so excited, scared, happy, + nervous to share this collection with you. It is so near and dear to my heart. A love story of sorts between nature + myself.
The Collection releases via my website on Saturday, March 13th at 3pm.
