Wild Ink / Forsythia

I made ink from the blooms of the forsythia that grow at my home and got this lovely rich sun yellow. I also made a second batch just using the bark (strip any leaves off) and the same color emerged. I’m curious is the bark would give different results once the bushes go to green foliage? I may need to return this one later this summer and test that out!
