Dancing Tulip
I don't like to put myself in a box creatively. I don't want to 'niche' down. I want to try it all and if I love it why should I stop?
I started experimenting with ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) Photography about 2 years ago. Bored with feeling like I was shooting the same scenes, the same ways over and over again. I was looking for more. More depth in my work, new perspectives. Creating a deeper level of beauty than what our naked eyes could see.
To capture this tulip, I slowed the shutter speed waaaaaay down, I usually start with a shutter speed of 1/4" and slow it down even more if I think it needs it. Usually the F stop will need to be adjusted as well to a higher number to compensate for all the extra light that may be hitting the sensor. Once I start shooting, I also move my body and/or camera around. For this shot, I moved the camera in a circle movement.
It is all a dance. A physical dance at times between myself and my subject, and a dance in setting adjustments until you are happy with the results.
