Wild Ink / Grape Hyacinth
Last year I made ink from the Grape Hyacinth that grows profusely in my yard during the early spring months. I extracted a beautiful light green but really wanted to try to capture that amazing purplely blue color of the flowers so attempted the cold extract method for the first time.
My mason jar is full of the flowers of the red bud (left jar) + grape hyacinth (right jar). The grape hyacinth turned the water almost instantly after I poured the warm water on the frozen flowers and I allowed it to steep for 24 hours before condensing the color down to ink.
