Why I Created Garden Notes: Creating Your Own Legacy

A Journey of Magic, Growth, and Connection

Gardening has always been more than just planting seeds and tending to them for me. It’s a practice of connection—connection to the earth, to the seasons, and to myself. I created Garden Notes because I wanted a way to document that journey, to find beauty and magic in the everyday moments, and to stay organized in the process.

Following My Intuition

From the very start, I felt a pull to create something that would help me not only track my garden but also deepen my relationship with it. There’s a certain magic in gardening—each seed is filled with potential, each bloom a reminder of nature’s cycles. I wanted to capture that feeling, to have a space where I could set my intentions for the garden year and reflect on how my efforts mirrored my inner growth.

Garden Notes became my tool for following that intuition. Whether it was the excitement of planning out my seed starting or the quiet moments spent documenting lessons learned, it gave me a way to focus on both the practical and the spiritual aspects of gardening.

Finding Beauty and Magic in Everyday Moments

Gardening is full of little miracles. From the first sprouts breaking through the soil to the peaceful joy of harvesting, there’s beauty in every stage. I wanted a way to remind myself of that magic, to slow down and take it all in.

With Garden Notes, I can look back on those moments—whether it was a particularly abundant harvest or a tiny bloom that brought me unexpected joy. By writing these things down, I’ve learned to appreciate the everyday magic in a way that stays with me long after the garden season ends.

The Table of Contents is blank, so you, the author, can add your own recipes, formulas, tips, tricks, thoughts, and inspiration.

Documenting Progress and Learning from Failures

One of the biggest reasons I created this journal was to keep track of what worked and what didn’t in the garden. Gardening is a learning process, and every season teaches me something new. Sometimes, plants thrive in ways I hadn’t expected, and other times, things don’t go as planned.

Garden Notes gives me a space to track both successes and failures. By documenting what I planted, how the weather affected things, and what adjustments I made, I have a reference for future seasons. This helps me grow as a gardener and reminds me that mistakes are just part of the process.

Staying Organized and On Task

While I love the magic of gardening, it also requires a lot of planning and organization. There are always tasks to keep up with—watering schedules, pruning, transplanting, and harvesting. I created Garden Notes to help me stay on task and keep track of the to-dos.

The journal helps me set weekly and monthly goals for my garden. It’s my way of making sure I stay on top of things, while also allowing room for reflection and creativity. Having everything in one place keeps me grounded and focused, especially during the busiest parts of the season.

This journal was intentionally created so that you can start this journey at any point during the year. Use your own creativity to fill in the blank monthly/weekly calendar space. Use your favorite pen, stamps, scrapbooking supplies, or stickers to add your own creative flare to the journal. You are the author afterall.

A Keepsake for the Future

More than just a practical tool, Garden Notes is something I hope to pass down. I imagine it becoming a keepsake, a legacy of the work I’ve done in my garden and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. It’s not just a journal—it’s a reflection of my journey, and I hope it inspires others to find their own magic in gardening.

In creating Garden Notes, I wanted to offer a space for mindful gardening, reflection, and growth. Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, I hope it becomes a companion in your own journey, helping you find beauty and connection in every step of the process.

I want to be completely transparent about the pricing of Garden Notes. Since the journal is published through Amazon, they take a percentage of each sale, which means I earn less than $5 for every book sold. My intention in creating Garden Notes wasn’t to make money, but to offer something meaningful. This journal is here to help you not only keep track of your garden’s progress but to do so in a way that feels beautiful and purposeful. I truly hope it brings joy and value to your gardening journey, just as it has to mine.
